Move Over Jackie

A president with promises of transformation, a first lady with a sense of style not seen since Jackie Kennedy, and a successful inauguration, change is now in effect. We’re all excited for the new additions to our country, but Barack Obama isn’t the only one taking us by storm. Michelle Obama is the talk of the fashion world. The media loves her sense of style and has said she is going to become our newest trendsetter. She is known for wearing up and coming designers and displaying them in a sophisticated fashion, but honestly I don’t feel “trendsetter” is the word for it. Michelle Obama has a specific style and knows how to put herself together, but besides setting a statement for women in the workplace I don’t see “trendsetter” in her future. Jason Wu designed a beautiful dress for the Inaugural ball, but the silhouette was not the right cut for her. To me, a trendsetter is mimicked. The only way to mimic Michelle is by wearing something sophisticated... which could be any number of things. We salute you Michelle Obama and the changes you are bringing to the White House with your sense of style, but let’s keep the trendsetters for the big leagues.

Of all the designers Michelle Obama has put on display I think Thakoon and Maria Pinto always compliment her.

This beautiful piece by Thakoon Compliments Michelle's skin tone.

This purple  belted garment by Maria Pinto shows of Michelle Obama's figure and flatters her shape
