I Just Got Pinned!

Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava decided to take a new approach to the rock n’ roll look. They brought back the safety pin. It was such a huge element of the collection and I adored it. Brought me back to middle school with a whole lot of sophistication. Being that this was Spring2010 I was a little bit in awe of the colors they choose, but it hit me that the grays, blacks, and splash of color is such a universal trend year round.

~A job well done ladies, I am ready to make a purchase.

Study My Independence

If you didn’t already know I am a student at Parsons and I am very fortunate to get a great education from there. Since I want to make fashion writing a career ASAP I decided to do an independent study involving my blog. No more Cykic on hiatus because posting will be daily and I will do my best to deliver. I’ll give you the best of the best no doubt. So let me start by showing you fashion I identify with and what influences me.

~Let’s hope I inspire you.

BOOK ALERT!

Let’s take a trip to the dark ages, where our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and those beyond, experienced the past, present and future of fashion. “Fashion of the 20th Century: 100 Years of Apparel Ads” is a bible to women and men destine to learn the in-depth, unrelenting pace of fashion. Written by Alison A. Nieder, she has worked in fashion since 1985 in retail, apparel production, and as a fashion business journalist. Who wouldn’t want to learn from a well-rounded fashionista?

~Maybe I should write a book?

THE September Issue

Today, Anna Wintour was introduced to the public unknown to fashion. Today, I was introduced to Grace Coddington, Creative Director at Vogue. It was always a name I knew and respected, but after The September Issue I bow down to queen of fashion spreads and the mind of a genius. I always will be Anna Wintour’s top competitor and biggest fan, but Grace Coddington stands right behind her with little room in between. The September Issue was a bible to fashionistas, and the words spoken by the editors were the blessings.  Deep, I know.  As Anna Wintour said, “Fashion can make a person nervous,” lucky for me fashion is what gets my adrenaline pumping.  It’s the most rewarding quality I could ever ask for.

~Too bad if you don't.

Pretty Pretty Princess

Did you ever play the game Pretty Pretty Princess as a youngin’ and literally felt as if you were adorned in gorgeous jewels?  A definite guilty pleasure for a young girl. Make it your reality with a beautiful piece designed by Assad Mounser. Assad Mounser is a jewelry line that represents two contradicting ideas pieced together as one. With a unique style, and costume feel, push your other jewelry Assad and make some room for Mounser.

Leave it to the Doctor

Hopefully these Docs look good on everyone and not just Sienna Miller. They are incredibly chic and give a little punk culture to those who can't seem to get the trend right. The doctor is checking up on those who can and cannot pull off this hip shoe.

~Let's hope for a win win situation with a negative strep test.

$$$IT'S AFFORDABLE$$$

Sea of Shoes blogger, Jane Aldridge is getting bigger and bigger by the minute. From articles in various magazines to multiple interviews on blogs, 17-year-old Aldridge is on top of her game. Her newest venture consists of shoes she has designed for Urban Outfitters. My favorites are these lace up knee boots closely related to her favorite Ann Demeulemeester's. I see a huge comparison with these new Givenchy's, so I'm hoping copyright laws weren't an issue. Either way I appreciate the affordability. One new pair of Jane Aldridge tie-ups comin' my way fo sure.

Kick, Turn, Crotch Grab, Ooow

A little soon for MJ mocking, but done extremely tasteful. Agyness Deyn looked at the Man in the Mirror to find the inner Michael, and I must say, a job well done.

Even if You are a Gap Toothed Bitch

Voluptuous and a gap?
It's a little much for the fashion world.
But not when it's done by Lara Stone.
With a stunning pout and clothes to die for, Lara's newest spread in W. tops my list of models even if she does have some cush in tush.

Unique beauty reigns over all.
~I'm kind of exotic, in a blonde hair, blue eyed Jewish girl way.

I Might Cry

Honestly, If I don't get this Alexander McQueen clutch I'll cry.

It's so beautiful, I just want one to be displayed on my manicured fingers.

Being McQueen is a dream come true.

FLASHBACK: Perfect Example of Me

I like to think of this as a rebellious ballerina.

Hey Look, it’s GOD in Form of a Shoe

Oops he did it again, except it’s no oops, it’s magnificent and soon to be mine.  Alexander Wang has designed these silver metallic high tops that are screaming for me to put them on.  The buckle detail and rigid metal look welcomes us to a slow transition into futuristic fashion.  Yes, it’s true I am an early adopter in this no nonsense trend emerging, but look around soon you’ll wish you were walking on the moon.

Wang, so hot right now, so hot

A PUSH in the Right Direction

Fashion magazines are my bible and channel inspiration in all forms.  When I came across PUSH iT Magazine I discovered a new love and prayer book to add to my collection.  Based in London, PUSH iT is all about fashion, art and travel.  The fashion photography and styling is so innovative and I’m waiting for my turn to become a contributor to “PUSH iT” to the next level.

Check it out, I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.

Here’s a Little PUSH from your best source yet.

Hiking in Heels

Summer is practically in full effect and I’m cyko busy. While been on hiatus I have been putting my valuable leadership skills to the test.  Go ahead; guess the adventure that will be my summer.  It’s definitely on a different spectrum than what you’re thinking, but nonetheless amazing in itself.  I’ll be at my second home, Camp Sabra, a Jewish summer camp I like to think of as a mini soap opera.  I’ll be living up my best-dressed reputation since I was a camper.  I may bring clothes that shouldn’t be worn in the blistering sun, surrounded by people who don’t appreciate what I’m wearing, but I don’t care since everyday is my runway.  I’m well rounded and eclectic, roughing it fashionably and loving every minute of it.

Give me another blogger/fashionista who’s giving you feedback from the wilderness.

~You’re staring unique in the face.
